A Property Identification Code (P.I.C) is a unique identifier used in Australia to track and manage livestock properties. Each property involved in the livestock industry, such as farms, saleyards, and abattoirs, is assigned a P.I.C to ensure traceability and biosecurity.

• National Livestock Identification System (NLIS): The NLIS is Australia's permanent whole-of-life identification system for livestock, including sheep. It ensures that individual animals can be traced from their property of birth to slaughter, supporting biosecurity, food safety, and product integrity.
• National Vendor Declaration (NVD): The NVD is a legal document that communicates the food safety and treatment status of livestock as they move through the supply chain. It is essential for maintaining the integrity of the livestock industry.
• Example: When moving sheep between properties or to saleyards, abattoirs, or feedlots, an accurately completed NVD is required. This document must include details such as the Property Identification Code (P.I.C), the number of animals, and their health status
